To Change Father’s name in EPFO Online Process –
The online process of doing this is quite simple. Just follow the steps discussed below.
1. Go to the official EPFO portal i.e. https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface/.
2. As usual, log in to the account using your UAN and password.
3. Now, search for the tab ‘Manage’. Click on that.
4. There, you will find a section on ‘Basic Details’. Just click on it.
5. On the page that appears, three options will be visible.
(i) Father Name
(ii) Date of Birth
(iii) Gender
All these three options are authorized to be changed according to the Aadhaar Card only. Your Aadhaar card details should match all of this.
6. As per your Aadhaar card, you can change the name of your father in this section. You can also change the date of birth and gender.
7. After you make the changes, you will generate an OTP on your registered mobile number and then verify it.
8. After OTP verification, the status of your change will be shown as ‘pending at employer’.
9. First the employer verifies it and then the EPFO official approves it.
10. After, it is accepted by both of them, the name of the father changes.
Note – The approval and updation take about 15 days.
Offline Process – Change Father’s name in EPF:
If one is uncomfortable online for reason, one can opt for the offline option also. For this, one needs to make a joint declaration by the employee as well as the employer. This declaration needs to be submitted to the EPFO in person. The process of offline declaration is as such –
(a) Make a joint declaration for the correction of the Father’s name.
(b) Employee and the employer must attest to the same.
(c ) Attach the joint declaration with the Self Attested Supporting documents like Passport, Aadhaar card, DL, Voter Identity Card, etc.
(d) Submitted to any regional or field EPFO office.
(e ) If all details and documents provided by you are found to be true, the correction will be made by the EPFO office.
