You must be knowing that ICEGATE is an online portal developed to facilitate business owners in the payment and clearance of custom taxes, etc.

Those who use ICEGATE already know that for the payment as well as the refund, one needs to have an IGST account. This IGST account is linked to the ICEGate.

Whenever exports of goods are made, a certain amount is deducted as taxes (according to government laws). Sometimes, after the deduction of taxes, a certain amount is refunded.

The status of this refunded amount can be checked through the ICEGATE portal.

Process of tracking refund on ICEGATE

Method 1 – Through direct Refunds Status Check

The process of tracking the refund status on ICEGATE is quite simple for those who have an IGST account. Just follow the steps discussed below to check the refund status.

1. Reach the official site of ICEGATE .

2. Search for the option ‘Services’ and click on that.

3. You will then be able to see the option of ‘Refunds’. Click on that.

4. Just click on the option ‘Track Invoice Data’ after that.

5. There will be an option of ‘Count’, under the option ‘Invoice not submitted’. Click on that.

6. You will be able to see a highlighted option ‘Download Failed Invoices’. Click on that.

7. If there are some invoices that are not approved for refund due to some error or the other will be displayed on the screen.

8. Click on the ‘Download’ option. This will help you to get information about the failed invoices. You will be able to see the invoice number also. This number helps in the refund.

Method 2 – Through Exporter Ledger

One can check the refund status through a ledger check also. To do so, follow the steps discussed below.

1. Reach the official site of ICEGATE. icegate.gov.in, You can click here also. 

2. Search for the option ‘Services’ and click on that.

3. You will then be able to see the option of ‘Refund and track’. Click on that.

4. Now, click the ‘Export Ledger’ option.

5. An option for downloading the transaction CSV will be visible on the screen. With its help, download the CSV transaction, form, and application.

6. Open this file to see all the transactions and their associated refunds (if any).

1. What is Download TRANSACTION AS CSV and DOWNLOAD AS CSV?

By clicking on DOWNLOAD AS CSV, only R1 and R3 entries made export ledger will be downloaded.
By clicking on the DOWNLOAD TRANSACTION AS CSV, you will get a ledger in which transaction-wise breakup will be made available along with R1 and R3 entries.

2. How to track the status of refund after logging in to the GST Portal?

For the submitted refund application, you can search for the Services option after logging in to the GST Portal. Now, under the Refunds section, search for the Track Application Status and click on that.
A new page appears. Enter the ARN or the filing year. In the end, click on the ‘SEARCH’ button. For viewing the Payment Advice Status, scroll right.
In case, the Bank Account validation failed, you can UPDATE Bank Account.
